Since this week the weather has been great I decided to wear my skirt...with bare legs. Finally!
But that also means pasty white legs.
Couple of weeks ago I mentioned getting the XEN-Tan at Ulta so I though I'd give you a brief update on it.
In two words - I like!
A lot!
But, I'm going to use if few more times to see if I still like it. I'll be telling you more about it soon.

The weather has been absolutely amazing. It's hard to believe it's 70 up here in middle of March. Not complaining though, not at all. I'm going to take advantage of it while it lasts.

On a different note, I'm sort of excited about Ulta's 21 days of special deals. Today I got the Tarte - Light's, Camera, Lashes Mascara. I hope it lives up to it's hype. It's a great way to try a few different "high-end" products for a reduced price.

I'm looking into getting a new camera. The truth is - I like my mirror pictures better than some of my outdoor pictures. Crazy, I know. It's been so gray here that outdoor pictures haven't been turning out too great.

Mr. is leaning towards this camera...and I want this one (I should win this one).

I'm STILL waiting on my J.Crew Pencil Skirt No. 2 in Viridian Green, which I ordered mid December. It was waitlisted and was supposed to ship 12/26. Then it changed to 2/18. And now it just shows as waitlisted!!! Frustrated is the word I'll use this time. I hate waiting for anything I order. But I love getting packages in the mail. lol Let's just hope I get it someday.

So in the mean time I've been eyeing a few things and finally gave in. Here is what I got:

I didn't think I was going to like this top very much, but it turns out I LOVE it! It looks SO much better on than on the picture or hanger.

No. 2 pencil skirt in double-serge cotton

The color of this skirt is absolutely beautiful! The picture doesn't do it justice.

Scoopneck painter tee

I'm in love with this color, very flattering. It actually looks so good paired with the skirt above.

Multistrap belt

I actually bought this belt early January I believe, first in Small which seemed a bit big, then I exchanged it for XS. Still didn't fit the way I wanted it to fit, wish it was an inch longer. But I loved it so much I decided to keep it. Then I yesterday I saw it in Butterscotch and liked it more than the English Saddle (which is also a beautiful color, both are). I ended up returning the one I originally bought and got Butterscotch in Small. Very pretty.

Question of the month: What's your most sentimental jewelry item - share the story behind it:

The first thing that came to my mind as soon as I read this question was - My wedding ring! It just means SO much to me, and each time I look at it - it reminds me how fortunate I am.
You see, I never really had a huge desire to get married. You're probably wondering why?! I had standards and those were high. I never knew a single guy that met those standards or had the qualities I was looking for. And I didn't want to settle. I would have rather stayed single my whole life than spent a life of misery with the wrong person. And then I met Mr. D. I was wondering if he was for real. Yep, he is real! Proposed 3/7/09, we got married 9/19 that same year. He treats me like I'm the best thing walking on this earth, he's super caring and kind, always puts others first AND puts up with me (we all know women's aren't always easy to deal with), 2.5 years later still cooks the most AMAZING dishes, ooh and he does the dishes too. Just to mention a few things. I could go on.and.on.and.on. So that's why the ring below had the most sentimental value to me (and what makes it even more special - he picked it out all by himself, and I couldn't love it more).

When I find fabulous affordable pieces I feel like I need to tell everyone about it lol. I'm sure most of you know what I'm taking about.
Especially pieces I've been getting a lot of questions on, where to find similar pieces. So instead of just emailing back a few people and telling them about it I thought I would share it with all of you. Some of these pieces are similar to mine (ones I get a ton of questions on), and others I can't help but share (and maybe get one of each for myself ;)

Mid-length Skirts by Forever 21
Totes by Express

Denim Shirt - Each time I find an affordable denim shirt they seem to sell out way too quick. So when I walked by AE yesterday and saw the denim shirt I knew I had to tell you all about it. Denim shirts have been extremely popular and I LOVE mine. The price on this one isn't too bad either.

Old Navy two tone sweater - Just love this one and it comes in different colors. They didn't have it at my local store unfortunately for me to try one. Love the Camel colored one as well.

F21 Striped skirt - I've received a few questions about my striped F21 skirts, mainly because they are not short and therefore are work appropriate. I didn't find either one online at F21 but found a great alternative. And it's under $11. (check your local F21 store for the navy/white striped keen length skirt)

F21 Spiked Choker - Just the right amount of "edgy".

Wedges - Saw these yesterday and just love them. Online description said 4" heel but to me it they did not look like 4". They have some great colors. Originally I was going to buy these pink ones just because they're so fun and different. But then I saw the green ones and then the blue ones... couldn't make up my mind but I think I like the blue ones the best. Aren't they just perfect for Summer?!? Yes they are.

Express Tote - I'm in love with this Tote. The color is perfect. I would probably use it for my laptop as well. Multipurpose!

Makeup Sets by Urban Decay

*Urban Decay Naked Palette - I know, I know...I'm probably the last person on the earth to purchase this palette. I hardly ever use eye shadows, mainly just mascara, but that's probably because I didn't have any amazing colors. I've been wanting this palette for quite some time now and finally decided to get it. Love the neutral colors!

*MAC eye shadow in Saddle and Grain - I bought these yesterday, pretty earthy colors, and the Naked Palette today. Should have stayed away from MAC and just bought the Naked Palette right away. Oh well

*XEN-TAN Deep Bronze Sunless Tan - Excited to try this. It actually was free thanks to my Ulta points.

*NYX Lip gloss - my first NYX product. I got it in Sugar Pie and it smells so yummy. Definitely not Mega Shine as they claim which is totally ok with me. I'm wearing it right now and if feels quite moisturizing. I've been hearing great stuff about their products and love that they're quite inexpensive.

Essie Nail Polish in Van D'go - I've been wanting this color for a while; they finally had it in stock. Can't wait to try it. It's SO pretty.

I'm actually able to fit in these jeans again. Which means one thing - I lost weight. And that I'm NOT happy about (I'm doing a two week body detox I'm sure that's why). It's quite hard for me to gain weight without totally going the junk food route. And that's not something I'm willing to do. Maybe when I was in my 20's I didn't care as much what I ate but once you hit 30 things change my friends, things just change.

I think I'm going to eat now...again.

My wardrobe essentials

I've been receiving a ton of emails asking what some of my wardrobe essentials are. So I thought it might be a good idea to share with everyone some of my personal must-haves. These are mostly my Fall/Winter items but many can be incorporated into Spring and even Summer and best part you can do a lot of mix and matching here. I probably will have a separate one for Spring/Summer.

First of: Blazers
Every girl needs at least one or two blazers. I used to hate blazer, I felt like a boy in them. And now...my wardrobe could not make it without them. Here are a few different options.

Blazers by Forever 21
Blazers by Made For Loving

Navy Blazer - Mine looks very similar to this one and became one of my favorite blazers. Very versatile.

Gray Blazer - I absolutely love gray. It's a very flattering color on pretty much everyone.

Striped Blazer - My dear hubby got me one over the weekend. They were sold out of Small and I told him to go ahead and get me a Medium...but it's big. :(

Pink Blazer - It's pink, what else can I say :)

Tomato Blazer - Makes me think of a red blazer but Tomatos come if few different colors .

Khaki Blazer - This one is very similar to my Lauren Conrad blazer, another versatile color.

Next up: Tops
Tees are an absolute must. Paired with a blazer and some skinny or even wide leg pants and you got your self an effortless look.

American Vintage Shirt - Love the color, length and the style of this tee.

Tissue V-Neck classic tee - These are so soft and come in so many different colors. Can't stay away from gray though.

Button Blouse - Every girl needs at least one or two blouses. One bright, one neutral is a good start.

Color block tee - Also come in black and white. It reminds me of my Loft blouse, exact same colors.

Chambray Shirt - Can be worn so many different ways. Or just a plain white button up is a must-have. Wear it alone, under a cardigan or blazer for a polished look.

Tank - I also absolutely LOVE Target's tank tops, they are only $8, so soft and comfy. I love wearing them under blazers or cardigans.

Cardigans:
I love cardigans, especially this time of year. Here are a few I absolutely LOVE, and the best part...they're all very affordable (most of them are on sale).

Open Front Cardigan - long cardigans are part of my comfort clothes. Leggings, long tee, long cardi - we got a winner.

Striped Cardigan - Can't get enough of stripes and they're pretty much timeless.

Colorblock cardigan - Just love this one, and it comes in two more colors. I need to get my hands on this one

Long Cardigan - This one sold out in my size at my local Target. Boo. Kinda surprised to see it online, on sale..under $9. Hello great deal.

Solid Cardigan - Great way to add some pop of color to any outfit. Plus it's on sale.

Long Cardigan - This is just the perfect weekend cardigan. So cozy.

Shoes:
Heels are sexy but if I had to pick between heels and flats, flats would definitely win. Even though comfortable heels do exist they never can be comfortable enough if you had to walk all day. Still, each girl needs some sexy heels. And of course, lets not forget about boots.

JLo Flats - I had to get these. They're so adorable and on sale. I had to go half size up (I'm usually between 8.5-9)

Cap Toe Flats - These are similar to mine, which I wear a lot during Spring/Fall/Summer. Very Chanel-esque. Also on sale.

Sparkle Flats - Every girl needs some sparkle in her life. And these are only $25.

Black Heels - They're sexy and you know it ;)

Contrast toe heels - Love the colors and the best part, they're 3.5 inches. Now we're talking.

Sam Edelman Pierce - LOVE these (not sure why these ended up showing in black). Still great color but I do love mine in Whiskey color.

Riding boot - I live in boots during this time of year.

UO Riding boot - Love this color. And it won't break your bank.

Pants:
Currently I'm living in skinny pants. Not just one particular pair, but just skinny pants in general. It's just what I prefer at the moment. I have a few colored ones but I thought I'd share some more neutral colors.

Black Skinny Pants - My most worn pants - black skinny pants. Every girl needs a pair.

Oatmeal Jean - Great neutral color.

BR Gray Jean - usually BR pants don't fit me well, but I LOVE these. I wear them so much. I got mine in Petite length which fits more like regular on me (I'm 5'6").

Light colored Jean - I've been trying to find the perfect light colored jeans. Most of them are SO darn low cut. Don't want to share my behinds crack with rest of the world.

Skirts:
In my opinion, pencil skirts look great on every woman. You just have to find the right style and length for you.

Black Pencil skirt - it's a must have in every women's closet

High Waist Pencil Skirt - High waist skirt in not necessarily a must have but I love a nice colored pencil skirt.

Pleated Skirt - Pleated skirts are just so pretty and feminine. I have 4-5 different ones which I don't wear often enough. Mainly because I like to wear them with bare legs and this time of year is not the time for bare legs in Mid-West (for me).

Accessories for me complete any look. I'll be sharing some of my favorite ones. I probably forgot something but this is it for now.

Effortless Sunday

This downtime is actually making me want to get dressed and go outside and do something fun. It's nice and sunny. Figures, right!?! I'm loving this put together and effortless look. And how cute are those flats, adorable!
Since there won't be any outfits for a couple of days I'll probably play around (and try not to shop online..too much...) and create outfits I'd wear if I was going into the outside world.

You probably were wondering what the "big" day is I was talking about yesterday. It's sort of exciting but at the same time not-so-much. I mean who likes the rubber band snapping feeling on their face that makes you end up looking like you ran into a screen door...with a bad spray tan job!?! And it's not a day or two look, it's a 6-10 day look for me.
I'm sure now you know what I'm talking about. Getting my second laser treatment today and will be spending the next four days indoors (which is going to drive me crazy). Great time to do some closet cleaning. So I'll be posting more neglected clothing of mine over the weekend, hopefully, to find it a new loving home.

I feel like I've been absent forever. Life is waaay to busy. Hope February will be somewhat less crazy.

Quick update on non-ablative pixel laser procedure - everything peeled off, finally. It took longer than the lady said it would but I can already tell a difference. My skin tone looks a LOT more even. Scar improvement is slight right now but with the next three procedures I'm having done, I'm more hopeful to see results.

Definitely super excited!

Since I look like I ran into a screen door, with brown dots all over my face, I haven't had the desire to dress up (thanks to the non-ablative laser treatment I mentioned couple of posts ago).

So this week has been a week of comfort clothes (like the second picture from previous post). Therefore, I'm ready for something cute. Here is my current love, need, want...gotta have it now...list. Laser treatment

Hi lovelies! Hope all of you are doing great!
Just got back from Canada few hours ago. Sis and I left on Sunday, it was a last minute thing. Therefore, I feel like I've been away from blogging....for weeks....and not just for a couple of days. I have some catching up to do.

Friday, finally, I had my first Laser treatment for acne scaring. At first I wasn't sure if I need to even mention anything, but for some reason blogging makes me want to share this info with you all.
Mainly because it might help someone that is looking into skin laser resurfacing. I do appreciate the info I have found on the web, all thanks to those who were kind enough to share their experience with the world. I won't go much into detail and bore anyone right now, I'll do that some other time ;)
If any of you would like to know more about how my first procedure went, feel free to email me.

Overall the procedure went well and I have three more to go. My skin has not started peeling yet, it can take anywhere from 3-7 days. I will post the 'before' and 'after' pictures once all my procedures are done and tell you my overall experience.

Soft Wavy Hair Tutorial

I have received so many hair tutorial requests and at some point I might have mentioned that I'm a little camera shy. Yea, I know, me camera shy, yea right! It's true my friends, it's true. I don't even like my picture taken, unless it's with my own camera...because it has that little magic button called "delete" and I have the FULL control of it.

I didn't want to leave you all hanging because of this little issue cameras and I have. So I searched and searched to find a lovely lady on youtube that might curl her hair in a similar way I do but most importantly with the same results (yes, there are waaay too many youtube videos on how to create soft waves). I've been frying my hair for years and years but curling it the way I do for about 6 yrs now (my hair is naturally curly/wavy but the not the pretty kind of curly/wavy in my personal opinion. Picky much?!)

Ok, so here is the video I found and I picked this one because the results are pretty much the same as mine. It doesn't look like you tried hard.

I don't divide/put my hair up when curl it, because for me, personally, it's faster just to take pieces and curl them all around as I go, starting with the front. But it might be easier just to do it the way she does.

You'll figure out which technique works best for you, so don't give up if it doesn't turn out the way you want it look the first time. Keep trying until you get the desired results.

Since I've been somewhat slacking with my posts this week I though I'd share what I had on my iPhone camera.

AND, speaking of iPhone...apparently mine decided to sit in my lap on my way to work and this morning while stepping out of my vehicle the iPhone fell flat on its face!

So half of my screen has a nice crack in it.

My poor iPhone has been dropped SO many times and nothing ever happened...until today. I'm telling you that those little protective covers you put on your screen work wonders. Except I took mine off as it needed a new one. And Mr. blames it on my new bling-bling cover.

Fine, I'll get the 4S! Sheesh! (wink, wink)

This is the bag I'd mentioned last week but didn't get a chance to show you. I just fell in love with the soft leather and the style (the flap is like cowhide).

Also, I totally recommend this tee. I got it in pink, white and gray and love the style, plus its pretty soft. It is also a bit long so the tee will go great with leggings as well. I got two in XS and one is S, for a looser fit.

Ok, so the last time I wore these ~~adorable~~ hot shoes I didn't tell you if they were comfy or not. Since it was love at first wear I thought my judgment might have been clouded and you might not have heard the truth.

Well, I wore them again to work today....and oh my...I'm in l.o.v.e.

I wore my Banana Republic trench coat with this outfit and I seriously loved the whole outfit (and I don't say that every often about anything I wear). It felt put together, chic but it didn't look like I tried hard. Simple outfits are definitely my favorites.

Now about the fit. When I tried them on the for the first time I thought I might have to size up, half size. It felt a bit tight in the toe area. I decided to wear them around the house with the socks..hoping the toe area will stretch a bit. It might have worked. The first time I wore them was with tights and today bare foot and both times I was able to be all day in these babies (and they've been getting a lot of compliments).

Last week my hair just looked like a hot mess. The color I had done few months ago faded and my roots looked...bad. My hair stylist just had a baby so I had to come to my own rescue. I bought a light golden brown knowing it won't turn out that way but at least it won't be super dark and most importantly rest of my hair will match my roots. I'm happy with the results...until it fades again (I didn't use permanent color).

If I had highlights I would've been in major trouble. Glad I went dark for Fall/Winter.

Someone asked about the fit of these shoes....I would say not true to size, it's tight in the toe area but if I sized up I could see how my heel would slide out of it. And I'm sad to say that I'm disappointed in quality of this particular pair (especially since so many say they have great quality shoes). Not this pair. After only couple of wears the sole under the ball of my foot was quite worn, I never had this happen to any shoes I own. But I do love the color, style and heel height. I will have to spend some extra $ to get the sole fixed.

So there is my brief review about these shoes.

Snow day calls for warm boots, warm coat and a hat. Even though this fedora wouldn't be my first option with this coat and these boots, I didn't have time too look for my other hat. But at the same time it makes the outfit slightly more chic.

I'm definitely very thankful Mr. got me these boots last year because they are SO warm and also waterproof. Best of both worlds!
