Why does it feel like I've been gone for months?! It's been a while that's for sure. Just a brief post today.
Those of you who follow me on Instagram (lilly_101) have already seen this picture.
Basically, I'm stuck...as in all-inspiration-has-escaped-me kind of stuck. I though I knew what to do with this wall but as it turns out I don't. Insta friends have given me some great suggestions. This is not the best picture (taken with iPhone) but you get the idea of how far, or not very far, I have gotten with the living room. The top right frame still needs a picture in it.
I used to have three long shelves (from Ikea) with pictures on it before. Even though I really liked the way it looked I need something new. Change, change, change.....
I'm also thinking about getting another small petals pillows (it's from Pier 1). Yay or Nay?
So if you have any suggestions for moi I would be more than happy to hear your expertise ;)
Hope you're having a wonderful Thursday!
I keep looking at a blank wall and I know I need to work with it!
ReplyDeleteLove your decor (am not surprised since I love your style in general lol!) I considered buying those exact chevron pillows - love your crystal bubble lamp and the studded sofa and the flowers- such a glam room!
ReplyDeleteI find a gallery wall really hard to visualize - it's like a jigsaw, but the results are definitely worth it.
I think you should add two fluffy pillows - and there are a series of coordinating prints on etsy which might work on your wall. Will post links when I get home to my laptop :-)
Thank you Ella :) Etsy has so many great prints, it might be just a matter of picking out the right ones.
DeleteLilly - here's the series of prints I was talking about - I don't know if this particular set will suit your decor, but the seller has several sets of 4 in their shop:

ReplyDeleteI'm not the best at giving decorating advice, but I do know I love your couch. The nail heads are so great!
ReplyDeleteLove the look you are going for with the prints. I actually just order some awesome "state" prints for my bedroom that I blogged about lately. I purchased them from essie. They are so trendy but still add a personal, home vibe to my room. I'll share the link. Love your blog and love to follow your styling tips!

Thank you :)
DeleteI'll have to check out those prints on your blog!
Where in the world did you get that couch?! It is stunning!
ReplyDeleteThank you :) It's from a furniture store called Art Van.
Deletei found it!

it looks a lot better in your living room than their showroom for some reason... good job decorating!
Lilly this is coming along together beautifully! Loving the color scheme:)
ReplyDeletei love that couch!
ReplyDeleteHi Lily- not sure you need another petal pillow why don't you 1st try taking it out of e middle and putting in front of one of the pillow you have on either side? I think many designers are of the opinion ODD Numbers! Try it and see f you like it before you go purchase another pillow. Please let us know what you end up doing!!
ReplyDeleteLoving that couch!!
ReplyDeleteLove the bicycle print. Is it from Etsy also?
ReplyDeleteIt's from Target :)
DeleteI love how it looks so far! Good pick on the color choices...my favorite ;) I wouldn't go for another petal pillow. I would change out the gray pillows, you can make or buy new pillow covers for them. I personally like how glam and sophisticated black and white prints add to the decor. You can also try some pillows that add a pop to contrast the chevron you have going on...try a complementary or Adjacent Color. The couch is stunning...good job!!! This is just my opinion =)
ReplyDeleteI have a pillow like that on my bed in blue (I think I got it at Target) and it's so cute! love the living room so far!

This looks like a magazine ad for furniture! I wish my place looked 1/2 as good.
ReplyDeleteI'm horrible about decorating, I had nothing above my couch for 4 years. Sorry I'm no help :-(

I think the wall would like awesome if you painted white wide stripes on it, and then hung your pictures and prints! It's easy to do and would be the focal point instead of the prints, which gives you more time to collect some. just a thought :)
ReplyDeleteI second this! :)
DeleteThank you ladies for all your suggestions! Lots to consider now ;)
ReplyDeleteI would keep the "love" pic where it is...flip the bicycle pic from the bottom to the top. I think the weight isn't proportionate.....just my opinion. I would make the grouping 5 pieces vs. 3.... Consider adding 2 smaller fun, glam pieces...fantastic couch and wonderful style...just my two cents...love your blog!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to articulate this, but you decorate just the way your dress! Classic, pretty and chic. Love it.
ReplyDeleteI second Leenie's recommenation. You should switch the bike pic and the one on top of it. The weight seems just a bit off. Otherwise, I think that room is adorable.
What if you move the white framed pictures over each side table for balance, then put a large metallic mirror over the sofa?
ReplyDeleteWhat if you got a white picture ledge shelf from Pottery Barn, or Ikea, and hung that over the sofa? You could lean your pictures on it and change them out seasonally.
ReplyDeleteOr, you could get even more pictures, and do a gallery wall of photos?
Also, you might want a or some bigger lamps? What about a floor lamp next to the sofa instead of a table and table lamp?
ReplyDeleteAnd maybe for the fall, get some pillows that don't have white as the background color? Maybe even some big mohair pillows from West Elm? I think they sell them there?
